Tūī Balms started in the early 1980s in Golden Bay, New Zealand, when beekeeper Colin Iles created a healing balm recipe and gifted it to the Tūī Community. Volunteers handmade the balms locally, and over time the range expanded to include massage balms and bug repellents — all using simple, natural ingredients.

Tūī operates as a workers' co-operative and not-for-profit, with proceeds supporting the community. They've gradually improved their facilities and packaging while donating at least 5% of sales to New Zealand charities each year. After four decades, it remains a trusted option for massage therapists, families, and those seeking ethically made, natural skincare.
